This is bad.....

This is really sad......this is the latest in the many ups and downs associated with International Adoptions.........My dossier has not yet been assigned a region........Maybe there is still hope?

The Committee of Child's Rights Protection, in Astana, has informed all agency representatives of a new policy change regarding gender request. Effective immediately, any dossiers that have requested a specific gender, and have not yet been assigned to a region, will be returned with no exceptions. In their own words, "All children are equal and have equal rights for family and happiness!"

I just wanted to add, that so far no other agencies have any information on this "gender" issue. Time will tell. I have decided not to panic just yet. Yes....there is still hope!!

We also just got the news and have decided to withdrawl from the program. Having the dossiers come back and go thru Consulate again and the issue of the health is just too much for us. We love Childrens Hope and have nothing bad to say about them and are now going to move onto another path. Maybe domestic?

Bummer...this news (although we haven't received it from our agency yet) might be just in time for us as we expect to be submitted to the Embassy shortly. Ou home study approved us for either gender but we have a stated preference. Wonder if that will be okay???? Time will tell and hopefully we'll hear from our agency shortly!

When you read the email from Jeff, did it feel like your world was also closing in around you.

We have made it over all the other hurdles....however, I'm afraid this one will get us.

Keep me posted on your direction....I would like confirmation that we are not in a region before we start thinking of Plan B.

Take care - Kari and Danny

Oh Lisa...ugh. Does this mean that this applies to all regions or just Astana? There have been so many twists and turns for you...please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I can't believe this news!! I am in the MFA waiting as well, I haven't heard anything from my agency yet, I emailed them yesterday- I didn't choose a gender- but I still want to know and will share if I find anything out! I think it is scary to think they may make more changes in the future!! Hang in there everyone our babies are waiting for us!!
