baby steps

I asked my agency if my dossier was still being translated and I got good news, it was sent on to the Kazakhstan Embassy on February 22, in New York. The Embassy authenticates the dossier and then sends it on to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MOFA) in Kaz. then on to the Ministry of Education (MOE). When a match is found, they will invite me to travel and I'll have about 10 days to get to Kaz. These are what are called blind referrals, I will not see a picture of the child before I travel but will actually meet the child face to face in his orphanage. Kazakhstan requires a bonding period in which you visit the child everyday for several hours at a time. The first trip should be approximately 3 weeks. I will then have to go home and come back about a month later for about a week to finalize the adoption and then bring the (my) baby home.

It's all pretty exciting and overwhelming. Like my Mom said, it will happen when it's supposed to.

Hi Lisa,
Great news that your dossier is still moving ahead.
The wait time for me has increased also and I keep telling myself that it will happen when it is supposed to--just like your MOM.
I guess those Mother's are pretty smart.

Looking for Sam

This is a blog of my quest to adopt a child from Kazakhstan. Enjoy!
