Bumps in the road #2

Last week I went through a tough mental patch.  I actually had to erase everything I blogged because it wasn't so nice. I vented.....a lot!

I started this process in such a positive frame of mind, now I am discouraged to say the least.  I have not heard a word since April 28th on the progress of my dossier!! At that point it was registered at the MoFA.  That was over six months ago.  I have had the gender issue to deal with so I have tried to keep a low profile but come on!  I have had my concerns so I even emailed the NY Embassy to see if indeed my dossier did pass through there (after hearing a story of someone's dossier being in a trunk even after they received updates on it!) I got an email back asking who my agency is......then an email from my agency saying that they got a phone call from the Embassy telling them that I was inquiring!! I felt like a kid caught in the candy jar!  So I wait.  I am understanding from others that there is a registration number assigned to all dossiers.....shouldn't I have this information for my records?? And why don't I get updates from the Kaz coordinators like other PAPs do?? Or for that matter from my agency. Doesn't someone know where my dossier is??I am just asking!!!!!!

I agree, I think 6 mos. is plenty of time for patience...someone, somewhere should be taking an active role on your behalf. Is it possible to have the case reassigned to a new agency who is able to get answers? Seems that I've heard of families continue through the process after closures of their agency, so perhaps hiring new folks mid-way through is also feasible? Sorry if these aren't helpful ideas...I'm frustrated for you and your lack of movement.

I am frustrated for you also--waiting and not knowing is so hard and to have such limited updates would understandably drive you crazy. If you ever want to get those nasty thoughts off your chest--you know my email or phone. I'd be happy to listen and it would go no further.
Keep hanging in there.

Lisa, We REALLY feel your pain. We have the same questions. Our dossier was also registered at the MoFA on April 28 and we have heard NOTHING!! We have inquired with our agency without much to show for it. I don't understand, but I know that IT is in the country so SOMETHING has to happen sometime. Try to stay positive, I tell myself that everyday!

You had avery right to inquire at the embassy if your agency is not telling you anything!!!! GRRRRR!! Kazakhstan is not like China (a much more centralized system). In Kazakhstan, it is your agency's coordinator who takes the dossier from place to place. They know what is going on every step of the way. I do not know why they aren't telling you anything. I knew where my dossier was EVERY DAY after I hand delivered it to my agency for Katie's adoption. You deserve the same.

Lisa, hi, I agree that your agency should be transparent. You're not the kid...you're the client and PAP. Keep confident and assertive. Susan

This is a blog of my quest to adopt a child from Kazakhstan. Enjoy!
