Lucky fortune cookie

Since I started seriously working forward on my adoption, I have had several people say" Oh, I see you with a girl, not a boy". I have thought long and hard about this. There are reasons for both but in the end I just keep coming back to Boy. Yesterday, my niece Paige and I had a wonderful lunch at P.F. Changs. My fortune cookie said "Son" on one side with the Chinese spelling. The other side said, "Do not give up; the beginning is always the hardest".

I like the fortune cookie. When we started, we also had meaningful fortune cookies that we have saved for Serik's baby book.

To answer your questions, we did not bring clothes for the first visit but all subsequent ones. Serik was 11 months old but only 13 pounds and fit into 3-6 clothes. By the time we left Kaz he was wearing 9-12 month clothes. We would change him into our clothes and leave them with the baby house as a donation. Often we would see other babies wearing them. We saved a few outfits for the plane ride home and gave the rest to the BH right before we left.

We could not bring him to our apartment until everything was complete. We had 14 days of bonding, wait a week for the court date, then 15 day waiting period. On the 16th day after court we were able to bring him to the apartment in Almaty. That was on July 4. It takes another 2 weeks to process baby's passport and visa. Then home to the U.S.
Good luck with your process! If you have any more questions, ask away!

Very cool - we had a fortune cookie when we were back home after our first trip that said "two small jumps are sometimes better than one big leap".

Be sure to journal and keep all of these 'coincidences' :)

How fun! I hate Chinese food so we never had any fortune cookies. Ha! :-)
