Timeline
My paperwork is now at the Embassy of Kazakhstan, my agency is telling us that it might be up to 2 years wait time. When I started this process, eight months ago, it was a 4-6 month wait for a boy, after dossier was complete. Does anyone have any idea on this? I am just floored that things have changed so much. I know the reasons why, but.....is this an accurate assessment? Does anyone know?

I just found your blog, so if you decide to go private, please send me an invite. I would love to follow your journey.
We just found out last week that we are now in MFA, we made it through the NY Embassy very quickly. Our agency has told us to look for a 6 to 12 month wait from this point, closer to 6 months due to our preferences being open. Good luck!

good luck all good things come to those who wait
It will be so worth it!
Yay for being at the Consulate!!!
2 years for a boy????? Like you, I'm finding that a little hard to believe!
Hi, Lisa. I found your blog through Sherry & Troy's. We are with WPA. We have requested a girl (young as possible, any ethnicity) and have been told the wait is longer for a girl. However, if we switched to a boy, we would get a referral within 4 months. We are sticking with our request for a girl, but we still expect to complete our adoption within a year. I think the 2 year wait has to do with CHI. You may want to check in with other who are adopting through them.

dossier at Consulate in NYC (or MFA!)
From what I understand I think that it's merely straight math. According to our agency the country has stated specifics around number of annual adoptions they will allow or not exceed. There are approximately 36 agencies that place Kazahk children. I'd recommend refering to the email that was sent out by Karen post her trip to Kazakhstan. She may be able to shed more light on the extension. Either way, nothing can be certain and like we are learning...flexibility and faith will get us through the wait time. Hang in there...Sam is waiting for you :) and this sliver of time will someday be a distant memory.
I am sorry that you are being told the wait is so long. I wish I could say or do something that would help and make the process easier and the time pass quicker.
I do have a hard time believing that the Kaz wait is 2 years.
